THE
KNIGHTS OF THE GOLDEN FLOWER
LORD ECTHELWION OF
THE FOUNTAIN:
Ecthelwion was the legendary first chieftain
of the knighthood. He was the only son of Voronthel Ecthelion, lord of The
Fountain. He was, as so many elves, named after his father and received names
Vorondur Ecthelwion. He was born in the first age in Gondolin and fought in The
Battle of The Unnumbered Tears, when still under-aged. After getting besieged
with Fingon`s forces, Ecthelwion joined a sortie lead by sir Melandur and made
his escape with some other elves. They then formed the famous brotherhood of
Celebrimbor. He became very close to his cousin Celebrimbor. Echtewion fought
well in the War of Wrath, and then served in the council of Lindon. It was he
who arranged it so, that Narces son of Felduin was made the underlord of
Lindon. Ecthelwion, however, did not enjoy politics. He soon moved to Eregion
with his cousin Celebrimbor. He became
famous after his trip to Mountains of Moon to deliver one of the seven dwarven
rings there. He then was an important figure both in Imladris and in Lindon.
During the Last Alliance lord Ecthelwion commanded the forces of Rivendell with
great skill and integrity. He was seriously wounded in the battle of Dagorland,
and took part to the final assault against Morannon and to the siege of
Angband. He then helped his uncle Glorfindel to form the knighthood of the
Golden Flower and became the first chieftain of that order. Ecthelwion was
widely known for his good manners, integrity, considerable wisdom and lack of
ambition. He was most happy while wandering in the forests with his friends.
Ecthelwion was a good hunter and an excellent archer. He was a well known
warrior, but was at his best in small scale fights and not in big battles,
where he felt out of place. Ecthelwion was killed with his best friend Galmir
while helping the forces of Cardolan to resist the attack of Rhudaur and
Angmar. He was widely missed by the elves of Eriador. Ecthelwion was married to
Välwen Melinir, who was granddaughter of lord Välwe and sister of Salmarindil
Noldorin. They had two sons, Glorfuin and Glorfalc.
SIR DIGAINE OF CEREDIGION: Sir Digaine was born in early Second Age. He
was son of the sister of sir Arminas and sir Gelmir. Digaine joined the ranks
of king Ereinion`s household company during the war between Sauron and Elves.
He rose quickly in rank and became one of the leading knights in Lindon. When
the company marched to the war of Last Alliance, Digaine was second-in-command,
in absence of sir Alcyon. Alcyon was then killed in Dagorlad and sir Digaine
replaced him permanently. He was one of those knights who in Dagorlad defended
Ereinion to the last. Digaine was wounded there, but recovered to fight again
in Morannon. After the war he joined the knighthood of the Golden Flower, and
became the second-in-command. Digaine was recommended to the knighthood by sir
Arminas. He was murdered in Rhudaur under mysterious circumstances, while the
men of the mountains took over that country in and allied themselves with
Angmar. Sir Digaine was tall and strong. He was a skilful fighter and able
leader.
SIR DELEMIR: (Dele – mir = Walking jewel. Ie.belowed person who walks a lot) In the 2000s the ranking chieftain of the knighthood. Delemir comes
from a humble noldor family. He was born in Lindon in late Second Age. As a
young elf he participated in The War of The Last Alliance, serving in the
Headquarters of the Army of Eriador. He was a relative of underlord Narces
himself, which helped him forward in his career. Delemir has been in the
knighthood from the beginning, and after the deaths of Ecthelwion and sir
Digaine he became the ranking chieftain of the order. Delemir was recommended
to the knighthood by lord Glorfindel himself. From the beginning he commanded
the Eastern Group of the knighthood, which was based in Imladris. Delemir was quite tall and strong knight,
with legendary swordman skills. He is the one who killed Darchas "the
darkelf", renowned swordman, in a duel during the destruction of Angmar.
His hair was dark and manners polite. What Delemir lacked in woodman skills he
gained in strategy and leadership. Delemir didn`t have many close friends with
the knighthood, but he had wide support and was generally held in high esteem.
His relations with Talwe were somewhat cold, but cordial. This went back to the
days of the Last Alliance, when they were rivals. Delemir was famous for his
good luck. After War of The Rings Delemir resigned his commission and went over
the sea to Tol Eresseä to seek for Glorfindel`s daughter Veänne, who he loved.
SIR TALWE: (Tal – we = Foot elf) Second ranking chieftain of the
knighthood. Talwe "the dark", and also known as "lord
of the lance". Talwe came from a common grey elf family. Already as
a young elf he got a reputation as a fierce and fearless fighter, which in the
war of The Last Alliance made him the champion of Galadhil, his king.
Originally Talwe fought with a sword, but in the war he also got a reputation
as a great mounted-warrior, and later in Eriador he was called Lord of the
lance. Talwe joined the knighthood when it was formed, and feverishly believed
in their ideology. He was recommended by king Galadhil of Sindar. Talwe was
quite a loner in the knighthood, but highly respected. Talwe rose slowly
towards the top. After lord Ecthelwion and sir Digaine died he was the second
in command. Talwe commanded the Western Group of the knighthood, which was
based in Mithlond. His hair was extremely dark, which gave him the nickname
"dark". Talwe was not that tall, but strongly build and experienced
tracker and hunter. He was really good with sword and lance, and quite good
with bow and spear. Talwe remained in Middle Earth during the fourth age. After
Delemir resigned he was the ranking chieftain of the knighthood. His most
famous action was in 2400s, when he together with sir Herion hunted a man who
had murdered a whole family in Minhiriath. They followed the murderer all the
way to Rhun and caught him.
SIR GUNDAR: Third chieftain of the Golden
Flower. He was a rare phenomenon among the knights, being falathrim elf. Gundar
too was one of the young elves who had taken part to the war of The Last
Alliance, and then kept on fighting after it ended, by joining the new
knighthood. Gundar commanded the Mithlond Group. He was recommended to the knighthood
by lord Cirdan. Gundar was a brown haired heavily build tough fighter. Of all
the chieftains Gundar was the closest to common people. He was a good tracker
and a promising strategist, and was filled with ambition and thirst for glory.
Gundar had many close friends among the knights, and made new ones easily with
his plain manners and cheerful mood. He fought with spear and sword, and used
both well. Gundar was killed in
LORD HALDURION OF
DINLADE: (Halla
– ndur – ion = Tall loyal son) Fourth chieftain of The Golden Flower. Haldurion was from a noble family
of noldor, son of lord Volondil, who was a member of the council of Lindon. He
was born around the war between Sauron and elves, and took part to the War of
The Last Alliance as a young elf. Haldurion`s father was killed in battle of
Dagorlad. His family manor was on the foothills of Emyn Beraid, in Dinlade.
Haldurion was among the first ones to join the knighthood. He was recommended
by underlord Narces. Haldurion commanded the Imladris Group of the knighthood.
He seldom left the manor, being the most important assistant to lord Elrond in
administrating Imladris. Haldurion had a
lot of relatives and connections. He was generally thought to be the most
intelligent of the chieftains, with a considerably strong spirit. Haldurion was
the one who found answers to problems and made strategies and plans. All the
reports from patrols went straight to him. Haldurion also helped to organise
the meetings of the White Council and became an influential member of that
council. He was a close friend with lord Glorfindel. Haldurion was not
particularly good with any weapons. His best weapons were his mind and his
charm. Haldurion and his Imladris Group fought well during the last attack of
Angmar. They went to join the Green Brigade of Tharbad and helped the brigade
to force it`s way north from Andrath and to defeat the army of Rhudaur.
Haldurion remained in Middle Earth during the fourth age. Haldurion`s closest
friend in the knighthood was sir Calden.
LORD GUNWE OF
GREYWOOD: He
was the fifth chieftain of the Golden Flower. He was known as Gunwe "the
lonesome". Gunwe was the least famous of the chieftains, mostly because he
was a political figure, representing the knighthood in Mithlond. There were no
heroic stories linked to him, just hard work and loyalty to the cause. Gunwe
never married and had no close companions or relatives, which gave him the nick
"lonesome". He was a highborn noldo who had arrived from Tol Eresseä
with the Valarin army during the War of Wrath, and then stayed in Middle-Earth.
It is said that Gunwe was a son of prince Gilfanon`s cousin. During the third
age he was already quite advanced in years. Gunwe was a graceful extremely
polite old style noble, who was perfect for a diplomatic assignment. He was not
a particularly skillful fighter. Gunwe`s manor was in Greywood, some 30
kilometres north from Mithlond, on the river Lhun. He stayed in Mithlond during
the fourth age.
SIR SUILLION: Sixth chieftain of the Golden
Flower. He was youngest of the chieftains. Suillion was a noldo from Imladris.
He was born just before the Last Alliance, and joined the knighthood before
first attack of Angmar. He was a brilliant swordman and a charismatic leader,
who however often acted rashly and took too many risks. He was also somewhat
vain and made enemies easily. Generally knights however liked him, since he was
a bold leader and cheerful person. Suillion was promoted into a chieftain after
sir Gundar was killed, mostly because he had a major part in freeing lady
Celebrian. Before the promotion Suillion was the third knight. He was promoted
over unwilling Derufin and enraged Lawhir, mainly because he had such a great
support from many young knights. This created much ill feelings and bitterness
among the knighthood, and was a major cause of the friction that opened in the
ranks during that time. Suillion took command of Gundar`s Mithond Group. He was
killed during the orc-invasion to Eriador, fighting a superior orc-force in
Rhudaur, saving a village but getting his small force destroyed.
SIR DERUFIN: First elder knight of the Golden
Flower. He was a grey-elf, born in Lindon. His family moved to Eregion when he
was young. Derufin had a heart-brother called Dillian, who was a bold noldo
warrior. Together they took part to the Mountains of Moon trip with Ecthelwion.
Derufin`s family was killed when Eregion was destroyed. He and Dillian then
moved to Imladris and served in the lord Echtelwion`s household company.
Derufin and Dillian fought in war of The Last Alliance. Dillian was killed in
Dagorlad. Derufin himself was badly wounded during the siege of Angband, but
was saved by Galmir and Welden. After the war Derufin joined the new knighthood.
He was well-liked and respected among the knights. Derufin was a serious,
somewhat quiet dark-haired elf, who was experienced tracker and hunter. He was
wise and careful thinker who liked to plan well and not take risks. Derufin
liked to fight with spear, but was also a really good archer. He had all the
support and ability to become a chieftain, but lacked drive and will to command
others. Derufin didn`t belong to any of the Groups, but had a complete freedom of
action. In the first days of the knighthood it was Derufin who was the main
trainer of new knights. Later they all took great pride in claiming to be
Derufin`s knights! He lacked good friends in the knighthood, with the exception
of sir Welden. Derufin was moody and unable to forget his heart-brother
Dillian. Only sense of duty towards his knights prevented him from being
suicidal and seeking to join his brother in Mandos.
SIR FEREDIR: (Feredir = hunter) Second
Elder knight of the Golden Flower. Sir Feredir was among the first to join the
knighthood. He was a famous sinda hunter, who had led the scouts of the army of
Eriador during the war of Last Alliance. Feredir was recommended by underlord
Annael of Mithrim, who was his good friend. Feredir was short and quiet, but
never hesitated to do his duty. He was an instrumental part of the knighthood
until his death that came too soon. Feredir joined lord Ecthelwion to support
the defence of Cardolan against Angmar and Rhudaur. He was killed next to
Ecthelwion when the defence of the northern wall of Cardolan finally collapsed.
Sir Feredir didn`t belong to any Groups, but worked directly under sir Digaine.
During the first years of the knighthood he was the second trainer of new
knights.
SIR LAWHIR: Second elder knight of the Golden
Flower. Lawhir was son of Enlian, a noldo knight of the
SIR CANDON: (Can – don = commanding swarthy
person) Fourth
Elder knight of the Golden Flower. Candon was a rare person among the
knighthood, being a laiquendi elf. Candon was born in mid second age in
Forlindon. He was quite tall and strong for a green-elf, with long brown hair
and piercing green eyes. Candon was a good tracker and hunter, and had some
leadership capabilities, including a driving personality united with a
diplomatic skills and ability to convince others of his views. Candon took part
to the Last Alliance, as a young elf, and fought in Dagorlad, Morannon and
Barad Dur. He joined the knighthood before first attack from Angmar, seeing the
danger that awakening evil was. Candon was a somewhat difficult and bitter
person. He was reputed to be a personal friend with prince Dahas, which made
him somewhat notarious and well known. This together with ambition, fame as the
only laiquendi in the knighthood, and his unquestionable abilities, made him a
raising force in the knighthood. He had a considerable influence, which he was
eager to further, but was constantly overshadowed by the integrity of Derufin,
and the abilities and fame of Lawhir and Welden. Candon`t knight pair was sir
Targan. Candon had no close friends among the chieftains. He was at odds with
Suillion, who got the promotion Candon wanted, and with sir Lawhir. Candon was
the second in command of the Western Group, which was commanded by Talwe. He
stayed in Middle Earth during the fourth age.
LORD GELDAR OF
WESTBANK:
(Gel – dar = Ceremonial elf) Fifth Elder knight of the Golden Flower. One of the few falathrim among the knighthood. His father
was one of the lords of falathrim, and a distant relative to Cirdan himself.
Geldar was born before the Last Alliance and fought there as a young elf. Right
after the war he got into a conflict with his father, who was a close minded
man, believing in the superiority of the nobility. Geldar joined the knighthood
among the first knights, and was recommended by lord Cirdan. Geldar was as easy
going person as someone with his education and background could be. He left his
father`s mansion, directly on the westbank of Lhun from Mithlond, thence the
name, and went to Mithlond and joined the knighthood, hoping to do some good
instead of just "being noble". He dressed as everybody else, but his
fine manners and good education and peculiar way of speaking marked him out
even among the knights of the Golden Flower. Geldar became the lord of Westbank
manor after his father died in the battle of Annuminas, where Angmar was
defeated. He was extremely liked among the knights, being a person who liked to
laugh and make others laugh. Geldar was famous for being able to keep his good
mood in all the situations. His pair was sir Helan, who was trained by Geldar.
Geldar was, not surprisingly, a close friend with sir Gundar. He was the second
in command of the Mithlond Group. When this Group was transferred to Imladris
in 2502 Geldar remained in Mithlond with a few knights. He stayed in Middle
Earth during the fourth age.
SIR PERENDUR: (Per – ndur = Half loyal?) Sixth Elder
knight of the Golden Flower. Perendur was one of the first to join the knighthood, recommended by
Glorfindel himself. He was a tall and powerful noldo from Helevorn region.
Perendur`s father was a feanorian knight and as a young elf Perendur joined the
household company of prince Dahas and was his squire during the war of The Last
Alliance. Perendur was wounded badly in Morannon but recovered. He was known
for his valour and eagerly joined the new knighthood after the war. Soon he
became an elder knight and took part to the battle of Annuminas, fighting well
but getting seriously wounded. Perendur was the third in command of the
Mithlond Group. Before the
SIR CALDEN: (
SIR SALBORN: Eight Elder knight of the Golden Flower.
Salborn was something rare, a vanyar elf from Imladris. His grandfather had
joined the War of Wrath and stayed in Middle Earth. Salborn was a mystical
figure with deep knowledge and sharp mind. Perhaps after Haldurion he was the
most intelligent of the knights. Salborn was among the first knights to join
the knighthood. He befriended Delemir
from the beginning and was his loyal supported. He was one of the bravest
knights, however with only little leadership abilities. Salborn was a fighter
and thinker, not a leader. This prevented him from rising further in the ranks
and he had no ambitions to change this. Salborn was good archer and spearman.
He was the third in command of the Western Group under Talwe. Salborn fought
with Glorfindel and Talwe against Angmar and took part to the final ambush. He
fought with Talwe in Northdowns. Salborn was killed while defending Lothlorien
during the war of The Rings.
SIR AGAMOR MOREHTAR: (Mori –
nehtar = black slayer = the one who slays the evil) Elder knight of the
Golden Flower. Sir Agamor was born in Lindon in 2200s of the Second Age. He was
the youngest elf ever to join the ranks of king Ereinion`s household company.
Agamor went to the war of Last Alliance with the company. He fought well in
Dagorlad and then distinguished himself in Osgiliath, being instrumental in
destruction of the enemy supply column. This and other exploits made him a
famous hero. After the war Agamor eagerly joined the knighthood, seeing it as a
way to achieve further fame. He was recommended by Lord Gildor. Sir Agamor
served in Eastern Group, where he, to his astonishment, found himself ranked by
sir Enlion Lawhir. He was only eight elder knight of the Golden Flower and third in command of the
group. Agamor set out to prove his worth and clearly aimed to be the next
chieftain of the knighthood. He hunted orcs and criminals with fierceness and
fury, soon achieving great fame in Eriador. Knights soon started to call him
Morehtar! Agamor`s thirst for glory ended during the first invasion of Angmar,
when he was tricked and manipulated by witch Derhal and ended up committing a
suicide.
SIR FUINDIR: Elder knight of the Golden Flower. Sir Fuindir
was a sinda from Imladris. He was fought in the ranks of the division of
Imladris at the Last Alliance. After that he was among the first to join the
knighthood. Fuindir belonged to the Eastern group and was it`s command knight,
until both Einion and Agamor died. Then Fuindir was promoted to Elder knight.
He was killed a few years before the second invasion of Angmar, while on a
mission with sir Ellor. They died fighting troops of Rhudaur.
SIR DELFIN: (
SIR EINION OF WIGAMOR: (Eina –
ion = happy person) Sir Einion was born after war between Sauron and Elves.
His home was a small manor of Wigamor in East Lindon, near
SIR WELDEN: Tenth elder knight of the Golden
Flower. Welden was a son of Hathaldir, a Nandor chieftain from Eregion. His
mother was a noldo, daughter of Herthir, who had once been the captain of the
household company of Maedhros himself. Thanks to this, Welden inherited the
best parts from both people. He got his strength, both inner and outer, from
his mother, as well as his looks. From his father Welden got his calm manners,
endurance and hunters abilities. After siege of Barad Dur he was often called
Welden of Eregion. Welden was born in Imladris, and as a young elf went to the
War of The Last Alliance. His father died in the battle of Dagorlad and mother
right after that. Welden befriended sir Derufin and sir Dillian and fought at
Dagorlad. He was the messenger of lord Ecthelwion, who greatly liked the young
elf. Welden took part to the storming of the Gate Fortress at Barad Dur. He
saved Derufin`s life there. After the war Welden joined the knighthood as the
only one recommended and recruited by of lord Ecthelwion. These two had a close
relationship, and Ecthelwion saw in Welden a great destiny. During the training
Welden learned healing under teaching of sir Einion, and soon became the expert
in healing. He was also great in tracking and hunting. He was excellent with
sword, though not the best. He was also excellent with spear, and an elite
archer. It is said that Welden was not best in anything, but extremely good in
everything. This made him, as sir Talwe once said, "the
ultimate warrior". Welden was a complex person. His patience and
compassion was almost limitless, yet he sometimes could be quite depressed,
while in another time was quick to laugh. All agreed that Welden was an extremely
easygoing person. Almost nothing made him worried. After Ecthelwion died Welden
had not many close friends in the knighthood. During the training he had some
friends, but only sir Merdal of them survived. Welden also had a brief romance
with a beautiful elven maiden Derhal, who however run off with the fugitive sir
Darchas. Considering other friends, slowly he grew fond of sir Perendur and his
friendship with sir Derufin went all the way back to the battle of Dagorlad. During
the last fight against Angmar he promised to dying sir Bendar to train his
novice, Maitren. Welden and Maitren soon became a tight knight pair. Sir
Maitren was a nephew of sir Delemir. This made Welden an important mediator
between Delemir and Talwe, since he was close with both Derufin and Maitren.
Later so well known friendship between Hallas and Welden grew slowly, and in
the early 2000s they were no more than in friendly relations. His most
important connection Welden however formed with sir Athir, who in 2200s became
his heart-brother. Among the knighthood Welden was the rising star. He started
from the bottom, with no friends or allies. Though he was a bit loner, knights
generally liked him, and slowly his position rose. In the later times Welden
was excessively important figure in the knighthood. He was promoted to Tenth
knight and fourth in command of the Eastern Group just before the last battle
against Angmar. The position had become open when sir Einion died. Welden lacked
the will and ambition to take strong responsibility and become a chieftain, but
had clear leadership abilities and much drive. Welden was a good strategist and
planner, with a quick and sharp mind. In late 2000s he became quite independent
figure, who seemed to be everywhere all the time, seeking clues against dark
plans and conspiracies he suspected were taking place. Welden fought well at
Northdowns and was instrumental in the destruction of Revenia.
SIR MYNDAGEN: Eleventh Elder knight of the Golden
Flower. Myndagen was a noldo from Mithlond. He was born in the mid Second Age
and joined the Army of Eriador during The Last Alliance. He was a childhood
friend of sir Darchas and sir Einion. Myndagen fought under Gildor and Erendur
in Dagorlad and in Gorgoroth. After Dagorlad he became the most trusted friend
of sir Darchas. The two were thence friends, until their roads parted when the
knighthood was found. Myndagen was among the first persons to join the
knighthood, recommended by lord Galendil. His raise in the ranks was not
spectacular, but during the wars against Angmar he showed some leadership
capabilities and was promoted to Elder knight. Sir Myndagen was a good friend
and an ally of sir Suillion. He was the third in command of the Imladris Group.
He had really cold relationship with sir Haldurion who commanded the Group.
Myndagen was second-in-command when Suillion lead his knights from Imladris to
help rangers and elves in Northdowns to repel an orc raid. He was killed
together with Suillion and all the others when confronted by huge orc host. Myndagen
was generally thought to be proud and somewhat vain person, with little
inclination to listen advises from others.
SIR CHARDAN: Twelfth Elder knight of the Golden Flower.
Chardan was the youngest of the Elder knights. He was one of the first to join
the knighthood. Chardan belonged to the Mithlond Group, commanded by sir
Gundar. He was promoted to an Elder knight when Gundar died and Suillion
replaced him. Chardan was originally from Harlindon, where his father had been
in the household company of king Galadhil. He didn`t talk much or commit
himself easily into anything. Chardan always carefully considered his options.
He was known to be one of the least martial knights. Chardan was killed by orcs
while marching with Suillion to the Northdowns..
SIR GILFIN: (Gil – fin = Star hair) Younger knight of the Golden Flower.
He was the brother of Delfin. These two were practically inseparable throughout
their lives. Gilfin was cooler than his brother and often had a calming
influence to others around him. He had a sharp mind and good diplomatic
abilities. Gilfin was an expert archer and also a good tracker and hunter. He
was a merry knight who was liked by many. Like his brother, he was close with
Talwe. Gilfin belonged to the Eastern Group, and in 2000s he was groups ranking
younger knight. He took part to almost every major battle and operation in
Eriador.
SIR ATHIR WENDIR: (Auth – hir = War lord) Elder knight of the Golden Flower.
Athir was a merry noldo from Harlond. His parents were followers of lord Guilin
from Nargothrond, and Athir`s father had been Guilin`s squire in The War of The
Last Alliance. Young Athir joined the knighthood in 1100, recommended by lord
SIR HALLAS: (Khalla = Splendid, excellent) Younger knight of the Golden Flower.
Hallas was another lonely but important figure among the knights. He was a
grey-elf from Harlindon, who as a young elf went to the War of The Last
Alliance. He server in the headquarters of the Army of
Eriador, learning to know lord Glorfindel well. He also got a good
relation with Sir Delemir. Hallas was the first person that Glorfindel
recruited to the new knighthood. Hallas was a seemingly quiet and lonesome
person, who however enjoyed good talking with his friends. He never took a
pair, but instead preferred lonely assignments. Hallas enjoyed wandering in the
wilderness alone. His relationship with the animals was legendary, and he could
talk with almost any animal at all. Even wolves were his friends. Not
surprisingly, Hallas had a close relationship with Radagast the brown. He understood
the forest, weather and land, better than anyone, and was the best tracker
among the knighthood. His patience was limitless. Usually when there was a
dangerous mission somewhere far away, which demanded ultimate hiding and
sneaking abilities, Hallas was sent. He had been almost everywhere in western
Middle-Earth, Rhovanion and nearby areas of Rhun and Harad, and knew enormous
amount of old tales and lore, which he loved to tell to others. Hallas was
perhaps the best archer of his time, with legendary skills. His healing skills
were also great. He was a kind and considerate person, of whom no one had
anything bad to say. Hallas was a good friend with sir Delemir, sir Talwe, and
later with sir Welden. His most well known relation was however with sir
Gileas. Not many got close to this complex and dangerous knight, but Hallas had
a warm friendship with him. Talwe once said about Hallas, that "almost
everyone in Eriador knew him, and if they didn`t, he at least knew them".
SIR MERDAL: Younger knight of the Golden Flower. Merdal
was a short broad shouldered noldo. His father was from Forlindon and his
mother was a greenelf. Merdal was among the first elves to join the knighthood,
recommended by lord Älwe of laiquendi. His father had been killed by orcs in
the late second age, while in a scout to Gondor under lord Ecthelwion. Merdal
then lived with and was raised by the laiquendi. He was often thought to be a
greenelf and usually said himself that he was one. Merdal fought at war of the
Last Alliance, serving in the scouts of Lindon. He took part to the stroming of
Morannon. After the war of The Last
Alliance he joined the knighthood. In the hard first years of the knighthood,
when common experiences had not yet turned the knights into a brotherhood, Merdal
found it hard to make friends because of his laiquendi background and
allegiance. He however soon formed a close friendship with Welden and two other
young novices. Merdal took part to most of the campaigns fought in Eriador and
was in the battle of Annuminas. He was killed with sir Suillion in Rhudaur.
Merdal belonged to the Mithlond Group and was the ranking younger knight.
SIR HERION: Younger knight of the Golden Flower. Herion
was a sinda from Ost-in-Sindar. His mother was a noldo. Herion fought in the
war of the Last Alliance and joined the knighthood after it. He was recommended
by lord Emrys. Herion belonged to the Western Group under Talwe, and in 2000s
was the ranking younger knight. Herion was one of the best knights in the Group
and soon became famous for his skills and valour. He fought well against Angmar
and in several other skirmishes. Herion was a quiet serious knight who seldom
laughed. He was the only one who accompanied Talwe in his famous trip to Rhun.
He was well liked by Talwe, but had no close friends in the knighthood.
SIR CARADOR: Younger knight of the Golden Flower.
Carador was a sinda from Harlindon. He served with Sindar troops in the war of
the Last Alliance and took part to several major battles. Carador was among the
first to join the knighthood. He was recommended by lord Lovandil. Sir Carador
was among the best knights of the Western group. In mid 2000s he was the next
in rank after sir Herion, the command knight. Carador was in charge of the
small escort of lord Gellan of Greenhaven, who was on his way to Imladris to
participate in the meeting of the White Council. Carador left the escort near
Bree to check that lady Firiel was alright, as her friend Wedemir Noldorin had
asked him to do. In Bree Sir Carador was surprised and killed by the seekers of
the Numenorean brotherhood. The fatal blow was struck by sir Acamer, leader of
those seekers.
SIR BOEREN: Younger knight of the Golden Flower. Boeren was
a noldo from a small village just east of Mithlond. He was well known for his
quick mind and considerable administrative capabilities. Boeren was quite short
for a noldo. He joined the knighthood after the first attack of Angmar. At
first Boeren was quite a lonely figure among the knights. He belonged to the
Imladris Group. After Moria he however joined the supporters of sir Suillion,
and became very close with that chieftain. Boeren broke his ankle just a week
before Suillion marched towards Northdowns and to his death, and to the death

honesty were a perfect match to Geldar`s subtle cheerfulness and complex mind.
He belonged to the Mithlond Group.
SIR CYLINDAN: Younger knight of the Golden Flower. He was
one of the few silvan-elves of the knighthood. Cylindan was originally from

born in Imladris soon after the Last Alliance, and joined the knighthood during
last battles against Angmar. He was trained by sir Perendur, but these two
never became a knight pair. Algol was a
noldo, but his mother was a sinda. This made him a powerful fighter with
considerable abilities in tracking and hunting. Algol was a good archer with
exceptional skills with the sword. He was tall and strong, with short dark hair
and brown eyes with a special excited light in them. He was one of the few
knights to marry. At first Algol had problems in deciding if his wife or his
duty were more important. Wife was however tragically killed by orcs, which
made Algol a relentless hunter of orcs. He was always ready for a new mission.
When volunteers were needed, Algol was always among the first to volunteer. His
personality was complex, which had to do with his tragic past. Besides his pair,
sir Asgen, Algol had no close friends and he kept his distance from others. He

responsibility. After this Dynian was an instrumental part of the knight
force. He belonged to Eastern Group.
SIR DUMLIN: Younger knight of the Golden Flower.
Dumlin was the knight pair and childhood friend of Daklen. They were always
together. Dumlin was slightly taller and stronger than Daklen, and lacked some
of his forest skills. Dumlin was not exceptionally good with any weapons, but
not exceptionally bad either. He had no weak spots, which made him a formidable
knight. Dumlin was a more driving and open version of his best friend, and
often took care of talking for both of them. He was killed in the same mission
as Daklen, while trying to protect a small village from a large orc host. He
belonged to Eastern Group.
SIR GWARDUR OF

childhood at Mithlond. Maitren was a quiet brown haired man with slender body
and fast legs. His running abilities were notarious. Maitren was first trained
by sir Bendar and then by sir Welden, who enjoyed his company, and they became
a knight pair. Maitren had some abilities as a tracker, which Welden respected.
He was good in fighting with spear, and somewhat worse off with sword and bow.
Welden`s and Maitren`s co-operation became so close, that they were considered
to be the best pair in the whole knighthood. Unfortunately for Maitren, he
often was in the shadow of his more experienced pair, who did all he could to
prevent that. He belonged to Eastern Group.
SIR CADHIR: Younger knight of the Golden Flower.
Cadhir was the much younger brother of sir Lawhir. He too was the son of
Enlian, knight of the

Asgen was the pair of formidable Sir Algol, and they were close friends. Asgen
was born in Imladris, and joined the knighthood after the battles against
Angmar. He had been a friend with Algol since their childhood, though Algol was
older. When Asgen joined the knighthood his friend Algol was ordered to train
him. They then became a knight pair. Asgen was a good archer, but not as good
with sword and spear as his pair. What he lacked in skills, which were yet
considerable, he gained in enthusiasm, general positive feeling and ability to
get excited easily. Asgen was considered one of the best younger knights. He
was dangerously wounded in battle of Revenia. Asgen belonged to Mithlond Group.
SIR GILEAS OF THE
FOUNTAIN:
(Gil – ast = Star dust) Younger knight of the Golden Flower. He was among the most important
knights, not by age, but by prestige and influence. He was known as Gileas
"the half-elf" in Eriador and among the elves, Gileas "the
stalker" in Tharbad and Cardolan, and Gileas "lan Gannan" or
"ice-killer" among the people of Minhiriath and Cardolan. Gileas was
the half-elven son of lord Glorfindel. In his youth he was rebellious. He
joined the knighthood and went through half of the novice training. But then
his mother died and Gileas left everything and went to Tharbad to seek for
adventures. He became a bounty-hunter and part-time thief who got a huge
reputation as a swordsman beyond compare. Gileas had dark semi-long hair, deep
brown eyes and beautiful face. He usually looked quite serious and didn`t talk
much, except with closest friends, whom he didn`t have many. To other people he
appeared cold and distant person, who was often quite sarcastic and painfully
realistic. His years in Tharbad ended with news that his childhood and novice
friend sir Henderk had been murdered in Bree. Gileas returned from Tharbad just
before the orc-invasion to Eriador, and re-joined the knighthood. He was a
smart person who was able to do important decision within seconds, was
surprised by almost nothing and reacted to situations frighteningly quickly.
Similarly to Delemir, the only weapon of Gileas was his sword. He was the best
tracker after Hallas, whose company Gileas enjoyed enormously. Just like Hallas,
Gileas preferred to work alone and often took dangerous and almost impossible assignments.
He liked to take risks when only his own life was at stage. Gileas had no
leadership abilities, but his opinions were always carefully listened, since
better than anyone he understood small scale fights and the mind of orcs.
SIR SANDIR: Younger knight of the Golden Flower. Sandir
was a noldo from Mithlond. He joined the knighthood around the same time as
Dunlan. He belonged to the Mithlond Group under Suillion. Sandir was the only

SIR DUNLAN NOLDORIN: Younger knight of the Golden Flower.
Dunlan was born after the Last Alliance. His father was a powerfull noldo lord
Salmarindil Noldorin, of the house of Välwe, which was one of the major noble
houses of the Noldor. Dunlan also had a powerfull connection through his aunt,
who was married to lord Ecthelwion of the house of Dilwe. He was closely
related to Glorfindel himself. Dunlan had a great future ahead of himself in
power politics, but he left that to his younger brother Wedemir Noldorin, and
instead identified with his aunts family and took their battle as his. Unlike
most noldor, Dunlan loved the wilderness, solitude and nature. He found his
home among the knighthood, which he joined just before the invasion of orcs to
Eriador. Dunlan had really close relationship with Glorfindel, enjoyed the
friendship of Delemir and Welden, and was generally liked, especially by Sir
Gileas. He was a considerate person, who often smiled and enjoyed company.
Dunlan was sometimes called the conscience of the knighthood, since he above
anyone else tried always to do what is right and followed the ideology of the
knighthood most faithfully. He was competant with sword, spear and bow, but
Dunlan`s skills were still improving, and future would show what was to become
of him. He lacked higher ambitions, but had all the advantages possible to gain
quick promotion and true greatness. Which he wasn`t sure at all that he wanted.
Dunlan was often unsure of his place in the world, drawn between his own family
and that of Glorfindel`s. Most of the time he just tried to ignore that and try to become as good a knight as possible. Because of that
he was known as enthusiastic, curious and enterprising apprentice and then a
younger knight. Dunlan belonged to Eastern Group.
SIR MONDAN: Younger knight of the Golden Flower. Mondan
was a young silvan-elf from Mirkwood. He had joined the knighthood eager to
help in the fight against evil. Monda was among the last group of novices to be
trained, together with such persons as Dunlan and Gileas. Mondan belonged to
the Eastern Group commanded by Delemir. He had just received his knighthood,
and been left to Imladris by sir Enlion Lawhir as too
inexperienced, when he was ordered to march to the Northdowns with sir
Suillion. Mondan died together with 30 other knigths, fighting side by side
with sir Merdal.
SIR MEIRIAN OF GREENHAVEN: Younger knight of the Golden Flower. Meirian
was a close relative of lord Gellan of Greenhaven. He was raised in Gellan`s
manor, often together with his cousin Gwardur. When Meirian became full of age
he emulated Gwardur and joined the knighthood. His cousin was then, despite his
relative inexperience, ordered to train Meirian. He became sir Meirian just before
the invasion of Balchoth, and the siege of Angrenost was Meirian`s first major
battle. Sir Meirian survived the battle to become a close pair with sir
Gwardur. He went with sir Callondir to Rohan during the war of the Rings.
Meirian belonged to the Mithlond Group.
SIR AETHAL: Younger knight of the Golden Flower. Aethal
was one of the newest knights of the Western Group. He was trained by lord
Geldar. He was transferred from Mithlond to Imladris just before the mission to
Dol Guldur. Aethal took part to the attack and fought well. He then resigned
from the knighthood to marry Elrond`s foster-daughter Almiel. Aethal became
Elrond`s adjutant and remained in Imladris in Fourth Age. He was a good friend
with sir Cadhir.
SIR EMENGON: Younger knight of the Golden Flower.
He was a grandson of lord Erestor. Emengon was a proud and ambitious knight.
During the attack to Dol Guldur he was strongly influenced by Saruman the
White, who persuaded Emengon to resign and enter the service of Angrenost.
SIR HENDERK: Younger knight of the Golden Flower.
Henderk was a noldo from Imladris. He was a childhood friend of Gileas and
joined the knighthood with him. Henderk believed passionately to the idealism
of the knighthood and was devastated when Gileas resigned. Henderk was trained
by sir Athir and then was to become his knight pair. However, Henderk was
murdered during his first mission in Bree, after accidentally running into a
secret meeting of some conspirators. He belonged to Eastern Group.
